Weekly Photo Challenge: Object

 

 

 

Location: London, England.  2013.

 

I saw this discarded flower on a footpath somewhere last year. I had a lot of time to think then, and to walk. It caused a little pin-prick in my heart. A red bloom, an offering of love, trampled and forgotten, alone. It made me think of broken promises, misplaced affections, love receding like the tide but leaving such traces to stop us in our tracks, steal our breath and remind us: once it was true.
